Frustrating or a Challenge

You know that my last blog had to do with womens business groups and how supportive the women can be. Well, I want to be supportive and to any woman. There are these 2 leaders of this group. I have met them a couple of times. the last time was at book signing. I felt like they needed the help of Style Like A Pro. Why? Because their hair was not befitting a book signing or even going out to dinner, unless going to a diner.
How do these women learn to recognize that other women look up to them and if they do not look well put together, perhaps their business isn't either. This thought was put out to another leader of the west coast group. Maybe she will come up with a solution.
I have offered(to this leader) to teach them how to style their hair (in under 10 minutes and they can feel like they just had a great salon experience everyday.) It could be done the next time they return to the city at an upscale salon, even with a TV crew.
But.. they need to recognize their need for hair help.
Don't give up or assume that you can't learn to look better. Don't assume it is too difficult to learn, cause it isn't. come see me.

Women's Business Groups Sounds Bland, but......

Since I last posted, there's been a lot off movement in Style Like A Pro.com. Movement that seemed to give birth to more women's groups than I have time or money to attend. For one thing rarely do I meet other hair stylists at women's business groups. So, am I not in a business that relies on referrals? Hmm, I guess not. Wrong!
But now that I have my own company, Style Like A Pro, I want the support of other women owners. It's lonely, unless we get out to promote ourselves. So... I joined ABWA Express to Success, Ladies Who Launch, eWomen Network. I've attended a number of meetings with Mt. Diablo Womens Group. The costs vary. The more cosmopolitan the group the higher the cost to join and maintain. So, I would recommend that you attend several different functions for each. The flavors of the attending women vary greatly, mostly by age. The more suburban the group the more traditional the business that they have formed or are employed by. They all offer great speakers. But, I cannot join one more wbg. too time consuming and costly for a start-up business. I may only be able to give up a group by attrition, because these associations offer support, relieve angst, and can help to increase our business acumen. Contacts through these women have helped the exposure for Style Like A Pro and I have made many new friends. Growing through friendship with style....
