Let's break "Flat Ironing" down. What flat ironing versus "ROUND ironing? That's one way to start. when we say round we mean using a curling iron or rollers in our hair. To "flatten" means to smooth out the hair amke it less curly, less bulbous and/or less frizzy. It does not mean to make it flat to your head, looking limp without body.
Flat ironing should mean "smooth ironing". You can achieve some volume and heighth with a flat iron and minimal product.
